Due to a lack of internet signal in North Wales we have been unable to post for a few days so to keep you all informed of our progress this post is for Day 83 up to Day 85.
Day 83 started differently for us with an invite to the North Wales Breakfast Club (NWBC) run by veterans at the Whistle-stop café a great place to meet connect with other veterans and to do what we do best, talk rubbish, laugh and at the same time have a great breakfast, many thanks to Barry the owner of the café for his support. We have visited several Breakfast Clubs on our route and have had fantastic support from them all. Now it was a tough decision to make, either get on with the walk at early o’clock or go and have a Belly Buster Breakfast and of course the Belly Buster won hands down.
It was great to meet everyone who showed incredible support, As a bonus we also managed to have a talk with a veteran who was going through a bit of a hard time something that could be done perhaps in the future with all Breakfast Clubs with maybe a VIA representative in each club, so hope we helped him with some of what he is going through. The TEAM had a great laugh and breakfast with the NWBC but then it was back to the walking once more and half a day behind which we said we would make up over the next few days.
Unfortunately the weather was a replay of our time walking around the Scottish coastline and wasn’t kind to us and over the next two days we had lots of rain and walking through clouds, but we cracked on and got some good mileage done in some harsh conditions but still great walking over some fantastic terrain even if a bit damp.
It is now only 35 days until we arrive back in Andover and we are counting down the days until we can get in a decent bed without listening to a load of guys snoring amongst many other noises through the night.
Remember you can join us for the last 6 miles from the Mayfly in Chilbolton into Andover, High Street starting at 10:00hrs or be there to meet us at the Guildhall.
